What are the benefits of joining the Hull Garden Club?

You’ll find much more than a garden variety of activities!

First off, you’ll be joining like-minded people who share an interest in and love of gardening, landscape design, horticulture, community service, junior gardening, and floral arrangement.

We offer exciting programs monthly in all areas of gardening, including:

  • The latest gardening techniques for flowers, shrubs, trees, vegetables and house plants;
  • Learn which plants work best in our unusual climate;
  • Organic gardening;
  • Landscape and floral design;
  • Creating ponds and water features;
  • Conservation and environmental education;
  • The study of birds, butterflies and beneficial insects and how to attract them.

Become involved in community service projects:

  • Assist local schools in establishing gardens to teach children about nature, horticulture, the environment, and how to “plant native”;
  • Flower shows, which give members a chance to exhibit their plants and floral arrangements, help spread the word about the joys of gardening, and serve as a forum of learning and discussing the latest horticultural techniques;
  • Beautifying and “greening” the community, by taking on park and vacant lot rehabilitation; community gardening; recycling and pollution-control efforts; and historic-site preservation.

The Hull Garden Club is a member of The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts and The National Garden Club.

  • Take advantage of the educational opportunities and participate in the Environmental Study School, Flower Show School, Gardening or Landscape Design — become a Master Gardener!

What are the responsibilities and obligations of joining?

Membership in the Hull Garden Club carries with it responsibilities and obligations regarding participation in its various activities: general meetings, committee work, special projects, hospitality, leadership roles, etc.

There are three categories of Membership:

  • Active Membership — Dues $25.00
  • Inactive Senior Membership — Ten years as a Club member, or age 70 or above and incapacitated
  • Honorary Membership — The Executive Board may confer honorary membership upon any member who has served as an elected Officer and made an outstanding effort to promote the purposes of the Hull Garden Club.

Members are encouraged to attend the State Convention and the District Meeting in order to broaden individual participation and Club representation.

Members who join during a current year will be invited to a social gathering for the purpose of learning about the Club, getting acquainted with members of the Executive Board and each other.

Refreshments are an important part of the monthly general meetings. Active members will be asked to serve as hostesses at one of the meetings by furnishing the refreshments.

How do I join?

We encourage you to first attend two meetings, and if you are satisfied and interested in joining, we welcome you to join after the second meeting. For your convenience, you can complete our Membership Application online using the form below.
